The President delivered his speech where he highlighted his promise to make the Armed Forces of the Philippines stronger by the end of his term. President Duterte also emphasized the need to eradicate the emergence of violence extremists in the country citing that he would rather talk peace with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) instead of terrorists.
President Duterte lauded the Philippine Navy for its contribution in maintaining the peace and security of the Philippines’ coastal areas. He then urged the Navy to continue its mandate as he vowed that he will continue to provide the Navy the necessary equipment to make them more effective in carrying out their duties.
He capped off his speech by saying that while the Philippine Navy keeps the shores and seas of the Philippines peaceful, he too will also continue to find a peaceful resolution in the sea dispute.
Following his speech, the President took a tour inside the newly-commissioned BRP Davao del Sur. PRESIDENTIAL PHOTO
