President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. met with the members of the Association of General and Flag Officers (AGFO) at Malacañan Palace on Friday to discuss key issues concerning the military.
Among the topics taken up were the proposed salary standardization for military and uniformed personnel and the ongoing modernization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
During the meeting, AGFO, along with several other organizations, presented their manifestos of support to the President for his anti-corruption initiatives, particularly in relation to the alleged irregularities in flood control infrastructure projects.
The group commended and supported President Marcos for his decisive actions against the “deep-seated corruption” in the country.
“We view corruption not merely as a matter of graft, but as a direct and severe threat to national security. When funds intended to protect our communities from national calamities are siphoned off by greed, it does not only steal from public coffers; it directly endangers lives, destroys livelihoods, displaces families, and erodes the people’s trust in the very institutions meant to serve them,” the manifesto read.
The group likewise lauded President Marcos’ recent directive to investigate and prosecute those involved in the anomalous flood control projects, calling it “a necessary and commendable step to safeguarding our citizens.”
“This statement affirms our support for the President’s clear and unequivocal stand against all forms of corruption within the government,” AGFO said.
“AGFO remains a dependable partner of our Commander-in-Chief in his efforts to uphold integrity, transparency, and accountability in public service for a safer, more prosperous, and more secure Philippines,” the statement added.
Other groups that expressed support for the President were the National ROTC Alumni Association, the PNP Academy Alumni Association, and the Confederation of National Unified Service Association.
Joining the President at the event were Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Special Assistant to the President Antonio Lagdameo Jr., Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., and AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr. | PND
