“Ipakita natin na may mga lingkod bayan na tapat, na may kakayahan at tunay na naglilingkod sa bayan.”
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. urged local chief executives on Tuesday to stand firm against corruption amid the investigation into substandard and ghost flood control projects.
During the oath-taking of the newly elected officials of the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) National Executive Board and the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) National Executive Officers in Malacañang, President Marcos called for stronger collaboration between the national and local governments.
The President also urged local leaders to work closely with Malacañang in delivering honest, effective, and people-centered public service.
“That’s why this is very important. Because it is the coordination now between the national government and the local government. And that is why, kailangan na kailangan na magtutulungan tayo,” President Marcos said.
The Chief Executive emphasized that genuine coordination and integrity among public servants are vital to rebuilding public trust and ensuring that government projects truly benefit the people.
The President said the success of his administration’s overall plan for national development depends greatly on the input and cooperation of local government units (LGUs).
“Kailangan namin marinig kayo. Siyempre, meron kami overall plan. Pero, the way to be successful with our overall plan needs the inputs of local government, of the cities, of the municipalities, or even down to the barangay,” President Marcos said.
The President emphasized that effective coordination between national and local governments ensures that development programs reach communities more efficiently, particularly in addressing corruption and irregularities in projects.
President Marcos said LGUs play a critical role in upholding transparency by ensuring that all local projects are properly monitored and reported.
“‘Yan ang kinakailangan. Iyan ang hinahanap ngayon ng taumbayan. Dahil siyempre kahit papano, nakikita nila maraming katiwalian, maraming hindi magandang nangyayari, kanino pa sila tatakbo?,” said the President. | PND
