President Duterte visits wake of PNP chief Albayalde’s mother

San Fernando, Pampanga — President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Sunday, July 29, visited the wake of the mother of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Oscar Albayalde at the Good Shepherd Memorial Chapel and Crematorium here.

Consolacion Albayalde, 83, died due to cardiac arrest on July 23, hours before the President’s third State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Despite his mother’s death, PNP chief Albayalde still attended the SONA and made sure that the annual address of the President would be a success.

The Commander-in-Chief arrived at the GSMP Building, Orchid Hall at 6:13 p.m accompanied by Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go.

The President extended his condolences to PNP chief Albayalde along with wife Cherrylyn and their two sons and daughter.

Also present during the wake visit are former President and now House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda.

Consolacion’s remains will be interred at the Sanctuario de San Fernando in Barangay San Agustin following a morning mass at St. Agustin Church on Tuesday, July 31.

Oscar Albayalde assumed the PNP’s leadership last April, replacing Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa. He earned his post due to his reputation of being a strict police director of the National Capital Region Police Office. ### (PND)
