DTI sees ‘unprecedented attendance’ of PH, Japan biz delegates in a working visit by a PH president

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s official working visit to Tokyo, Japan has drawn an “unprecedented number” of business delegates from Japan and the Philippines, making it historic for an official visit of a Filipino leader.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) bared this on Saturday, the fourth day of President Marcos’ five-day working visit to the “Land of the Rising Sun.”

The DTI noted 120 Philippine companies and 1,300 Japanese firms, composed of 3,472 businessmen, registered for the meetings held in Tokyo, where a wide range of cooperation was sealed between the Philippine and Japanese governments and business leaders.

President Marcos’ historic visit to Japan was earlier marked by 35 key deals signed between the Philippines and its long-time ally on Friday.

The 35 agreements “cut across the whole gamut,” according to the chief executive.

President Marcos said his working visit to Tokyo is a “particularly important visit” because it is “really a setting down the blueprint for our relations as we slowly emerge from the pandemic economy.”

The President also underscored the “continuing development of our relationship with Japan” and pointed out the “very, very close relationship since 1956 when we established our diplomatic relations.” #
