KNP group formed to support unity call of Marcos

Several legislators and high-ranking government officials have created a social civic movement a few days before the first State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

The Kilusan ng Nakakaisang Pilipino (KNP) heeds the call of Marcos for unity, with convenors signing a pledge for unity in support of the new President.

“Kailangan magtulungan ng bawat isa sa baba… Kung lahat ng tao ay tutulong, mas magaan ang trabaho ng bawat isa,” Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos said.

They also expressed some of the programs and issues that Marcos should prioritize and look into.

Negros Oriental 3rd District Rep. Arnie Teves stressed the need to use nuclear plants to reduce electricity costs, as well as the utilization of idle lands for food production and the establishment of more farm-to-market roads.

Lawmakers said Marcos should focus on the agriculture sector in response to threats on food security, the provision of subsidies to farmers, strengthening of irrigation systems, crime prevention, national security, COVID-19 booster vaccination, and economic recovery.

KNP members are set to meet Marcos after his SONA to further discuss policies and regulations needed for the country’s recovery from the impact of prevailing crises. – Report from Cleizl Pardilla-ag
