President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Wednesday downplayed criticisms of his predecessor, former President Rodrigo Duterte on his support to amend the economic provisions of the 1987 Constitution.
In a press conference with the Philippine media on the sidelines of his three-day visit to Germany, President Marcos said he has to examine first Duterte’s comment, knowing the former president has been inconsistent with his statements.
“Na-co-confuse ako kay PRRD papalit-palit eh,” President Marcos quipped in referring to Duterte’s inconsistent statements.
“So, we will, tignan ko muna kung ano ba talaga ang sinabi niya para maintindihan ko. I think, hindi ko talaga naintindihan kasi parang naiiba bawat salita niya iba. So I will try to make sense of it,” he added.
President Marcos’ statement came after he was asked to comment on Duterte’s remarks over his motive in supporting Charter change.
President Marcos earlier emphasized that introducing reforms to the Constitution will be limited to the basic law’s economic provisions alone. | PND
