PH role to the world: trusted partner, peacemaker for regional, global unity – PBBM



President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. on Friday vowed to embrace the Philippine’s role in the region and around the world ‘with a sense of purpose’ as he underscored the strong potentials of the country given its position in global standing.

In his speech during the 21st IISS Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, President Marcos emphasized the country’s experience as a trusted partner, credible pathfinder, and committed peacemaker which will ensure the performance of its role as UN Security Council for 2027-2028.

“Our strong potentials come with an inevitable rise in our global standing. Just as we have done in the past, we will embrace our role in this region and around the world with a sense of purpose.,” President Marcos said.

“We will bring our experience as a trusted partner, credible pathfinder, and committed peacemaker when elected to the [United] Nations Security Council for the term of 2027-2028,” he said.

The Chief Executive also shared the country’s determination on all major global aspects and resiliencies to withstand all daunting challenges and vulnerabilities towards achieving its common aspirations.

“We are determined to be a force for the good, a force for peace, a champion of regional and global unity, [and] a staunch defender of the rules-based international order,” President Marcos said.

“Despite daunting challenges and our increasing vulnerabilities, we remain on track to achieve our goal of a high-income economy and a prosperous country by the year 2040, a place where Filipinos live strongly-rooted, comfortable, and secure lives,” he added.

Recognizing the Indo-Pacific’s promising capacities of becoming the fastest growing economic hub and largest contributor to global growth, President Marcos assured to make such capacities alive and attainable. He urged leaders in the region not to be distracted by geopolitical situation in performing duty as civil servants, as public intellectuals, and as statesmen towards stability, security and peace.

“The Indo-Pacific holds much promise as the fastest growing economic hub and the largest contributor to global growth. That [promise] must be kept alive. Furthermore, that promise must be fulfilled,” the President said.

“Geopolitics must not distract us from our fundamental duty as civil servants, as public intellectuals, as statesmen: To deliver for our peoples, and to safeguard the future for the coming generations. This is the reason why we strive for stability, for security, and for peace,” he added.

President Marcos reiterated in his speech the core purpose, collective commitment, and calling to come together to win the future for the region, and to make a better world. PND
