President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Wednesday said setting up a Philippine sovereign wealth fund is a “good idea” to leverage government assets and pursue big-ticket infrastructure projects, particularly in energy and agriculture.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. suggested Wednesday key steps that should be taken so that nations can attain nutrition security, and these include boosting agricultural and fishery productivity, improving logistics systems and changing people’s lifestyles.

Marcos Jr., sa pamamagitan ng isang talumpati, ang High-Level Dialogue on Investing in Infrastructure for Resilience ng World Economic Forum (WEF) sa Davos, Switzerland nitong Miyerkules. Ibinahagi ni PBBM na prayoridad ng pamahalaan ang pagtatayo ng mga imprastruktura at proyektong climate-resilient sa pamamagitan ng programang ‘Build, Better, More’. Siyam na porsyento ng national budget ang inilaan dito para mabawasan ang epekto ng kalamidad at sakuna na haharapin ng bansa. Binigyang-diin din ng Pangulo ang kahalagahan ng public-private partnership na kaisa ng pamahalaan sa pagsasakatuparan ng mga proyektong ito.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. met with Mr. Gokul Laroia, Chairman for Asia Pacific, Morgan Stanley, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. Mr. Laroia informed President Marcos that the top global investment bank will set up office in Manila.

On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) organized sessions, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual met with Mr. Gary Nagle, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Glencore, on Tuesday to discuss the company’s interest to expand mining and processing operations in the Philippines. Glencore, a Swiss multinational company, is one of the largest and globally diversified natural resource companies in the world. They see the Philippines as a potential partner to process nickel and copper resources responsibly and sustainably for use in electric vehicle batteries and energy storage units, among others.

Sa ginanap na bilateral meeting sa pagitan nina Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at International Monetary Fund (IMF) Maganing Director Kristalina Georgieva ay nangako ang IMF na handa silang tumulong para isulong ang mga polisiya na mas makabubuti sa mga Pilipino. Ayon naman kay PBBM, kinakailangang siguruhin ng Pilipinas ang maayos na pagtugon sa mga pangunahing pangangailangan ng mga Pilipino. Inilahad din niya ang kahalagahan ng digitalization para mas epektibo at mabisa ang paghahatid ng mga serbisyo ng pamahalaan.

Kasama ang economic team ng bansa, ipinahayag ng Pangulo sa kanyang talumpati ang kalagayan ng Pilipinas at mga hakbang ng administrasyon sa usapin ng inflation, kalakalan, imprastruktura, enerhiya, climate change at iba pa. Ayon pa kay PBBM, isang magandang pagkakataon ang talakayang ito para maipakita sa WEF at partners nito ang mga oportunidad na maaaring buksan sa bansa.
