President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., on Thursday cited the importance of airports and connectivity infrastructure in Philippine growth owing to their impact on business, tourism, and political diplomacy.
Speaking to reporters following the inauguration of Mactan-Cebu International Airport’s second runway, President Marcos stressed that airports are crucial in keeping the Philippines integrated with the global community and economy.
“Sabihin mo na lang walang airport, paano tayo? Maiwanan tayo ng buong mundo. You can not be part of the global community and the global economy if you do not have connectivity. So, that’s what airports serve,” he said.
The President said strong connectivity strengthens international partnerships and alliances and enhances public services and business operations nationwide.
He stressed that airports are a top priority in his administration’s infrastructure and connectivity agenda.
“That doesn’t only refer to international contacts and alliances and partnerships that we have, but also the efficiency of the delivery of the public services within the country for the government agencies and for the business community as well,” the President also said. | PND
