Hours before the May 12 midterm elections’ voting process concluded, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) echoed President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call to elect capable, competent, and compassionate leaders committed to advancing the country’s continued progress.
“Sabi rin po ng Pangulo na dapat ang ating mga kababayan ay bumoto ng tama, ‘yung marunong, magaling, at higit sa lahat ‘yung may puso para sa masang Pilipino. Yun po ang naging standard ng Pangulo,” PCO Secretary Jay C. Ruiz said in an interview.
Secretary Ruiz said President Marcos’s message was not just a reminder but a guide for Filipinos who are seeking meaningful changes in governance, especially now that the country confronts many challenges.
“Kung gusto niyo ng pagbabago, gusto niyo ng bagong sistema o gusto niyo ng mas magandang sistema ay bumoto po kayo ng mga lider na may puso o interes para sa mamayang Pilipino. ‘Yun po ang kinakailangan natin ngayon,” the PCO chief said.
Secretary Ruiz highlighted the importance of electing truly committed leaders to public service. Millions of voters trooped to polling precincts nationwide.
The Presidential Communications chief advised the public to rely on trusted news sources for election updates, as he assured that state media agencies are broadcasting accurate and fair election coverage.
A total of 18,280 seats across 14 different positions—from senators to municipal councilors—are up for grabs in the May 12 midterm elections, with polling precincts scheduled to close at 7 p.m. Monday. | PND
