PBBM: Affordable rice soon in more public markets via Benteng Bigas

Soon, the PhP20-per-kilo rice made possible under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s administration will be available not just in designated government outlets, but also in most public markets.

In his latest BBM vlog released on Sunday, President Marcos said that stores would continue selling rice at PhP20, reiterating that the Benteng Bigas Meron Na program is sustainable.

“Sa pagtutulungan ng maraming ahensya ng national government at ngayon in partnership with the local government, P20 rice is here to stay,” President Marcos in his BBM VLOG 271 Agrikultura.

“It is achievable, it is sustainable. Kaya abangan ninyo in your nearest public market,” the President stressed.

President Marcos’ Benteng Bigas Meron Na program has made rice accessible to Filipino families from vulnerable sectors.

The PhP20 per kilo rice is currently sold to indigent families, recipients of the 4Ps Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), senior citizens, persons with disability (PWDs), solo parents, and minimum wage earners.

The Benteng Bigas is available in 94 sites nationwide, with the latest outlet launched by President Marcos at the Zapote-Bacoor Public Market in Bacoor City, Cavite last Tuesday.

“Hindi lamang po sa Kadiwa stores may P20 rice, kundi pati na rin sa mga palengke natin,” the President said on Sunday.

“Parami nang parami na ang ating mga location. At hindi lang po ito pop-up store na mawawala naman pagkatapos na masimulan. Tuloy-tuloy na po ito,” President Marcos emphasized. | PND
