With their technological “know-how,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. urged Filipino youth to use their skills to help modernize the country’s agriculture sector.
In his latest BBM vlog posted on Sunday, President Marcos said the potential of technological innovations in agriculture could encourage more young Filipinos to pursue farming as a viable profession
Ang sagot ko, teknolohiya,” the President said in his BBM VLOG 221: Agrikultura.
“We must use technology.
For example, President Marcos noted that the youth could understand the workings and applications of the state-of-the-art mobile soil laboratory.
Last Tuesday, during a visit to Muñoz City, Nueva Ecija, one of the country’s central rice-producing provinces, the President oversaw the deployment of 16 mobile soil laboratories.
The mobile soil laboratory is capable of conducting soil and water analysis under 44 parameters. The analysis could help farmers maximize their harvests and optimize the use of farm inputs.
President Marcos also cited the PhP63.9 million Rice Processing System II, which he inaugurated in Muñoz City, as another example of high-tech farm assets. The facility can process from 2 to 3 tons of palay every hour, said the President.
Aside from the mobile soil laboratory units and the rice processing facility, the President also distributed PhP31 million worth of farm machinery to increase efficiency and productivity.
| PND
