PASAY CITY — President Rodrigo Roa Duterte administered the donning of ranks to three newly promoted military officials at the Villamor Air Base on Wednesday, November 7.
Promoted to Lieutenant General was Major General Macairog Alberto, Commanding General of the Philippine Army.
Alberto, a member of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class 1986, assumed his post as Army chief last October 15.
Also promoted to Lieutenant General was Major General Ronnie Evangelista, superintendent of PMA. He was also appointed by the President last October succeeding Lt. Gen. Donato San Juan II.
Also promoted to a higher rank as Major General was Brigadier General Erwin Bernard Neri, who had replaced Alberto as chief of the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP) before the latter’s appointment to the Army. Neri is a graduate of PMA Class 1988.
Both Alberto and Neri had previously served as commander of Task Force Davao and the Army’s 1001st Infantry Brigade in Compostela Valley.
Their respective families joined the newly promoted generals during the ceremony.
Awarding of 2nd PRRD Fellowship Golf Tournament
Following the ceremony, President Duterte proceeded to the Villamor Air Base Golf Course for the awarding ceremony of the 2nd PRRD Fellowship Golf Tournament.
The tournament was jointly hosted by the Presidential Security Group and personnel from the government’s uniformed services.
“This tournament indeed serves as a testament not only to your interest in the game of golf but also to your commitment to work together in serving our people and defending our democratic institutions,” the President said in his speech.
“As this event nurtures your personal and professional ties within the armed services and the executive branch, I ask you to renew your commitment to work towards ensuring peace and order in our homes, communities, and across the nation,” he added.
The Philippine Army – Team Alpha was declared the grand champion of the golf tournament, followed by the Philippine Air Force (1st runner-up), Philippine Army – Team Bravo (2nd runner-up), and Philippine National Police – Team Alpha (3rd runner-up).
The winners received medals, trophies, and cash prizes from the President.
“Let me congratulate the winners of this 2nd Fellowship Golf Tournament for embodying the spirit of camaraderie and solidarity through competitive sports. The success of this event shows that anything can be achieved through commitment, dedication, unity, and teamwork,” he said.
“Together, let us continue to embody solidarity and promote active participation in our shared task of building a stronger and more peaceful nation,” he added. ### PND
