MERCADO:                                       Okay, katanungan ko: Ano ba ang naging reaksiyon mo nung narinig mo itong pahayag ni SPO3 Arturo Lascañas? Nung umpisa nung siya ay unang nag-testify eh pasumpa-sumpa pa doon sa sinabi. Ngayon, paiyak-iyak naman ngayon. Ano ba ang inyong naging reaksiyon?

SEC. ANDANAR:                            Alam mo, pabago-bago kasi ng statement so this really affect the credibility of the policeman – the former policeman. Again, mga rehashed naman ito na mga isyu. And kahapon, mainit ang istorya, pero sa kabila niyan ay bising-busy po ang ating Pangulo dito sa Malacañang. Nag-meeting iyong US-Philippine Society, Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim, tapos tumagal po iyong meeting doon. As a matter of fact, tayo pa nga ang nag-update sa kaniya kung ano ang mga nangyayari for the day. He was just all smiles and joking around. Sabi niya, bahala na si Atty. Sal Panelo sumagot sa mga isyu. So, it was just a normal day for the people at the Palace, Ka Orly.

MERCADO:                                       Pero ano eh, well, incredible as it may, whatever may reaksiyon ng tao. Sinasabi na ang Presidente daw mismo ang nagbigay ng tatlong milyong kontrata para patayin iyong broadcaster na si Jun Pala, at one million daw ang binigay dito sa kaniya. Ano ba ang reaksiyon mo dito?

SEC. ANDANAR:                            Alam mo, Ka Orly, usapan ng mga abugado na iyan from this point. Hahayaan ko na lamang na si Secretary Vit Aguirre or si Secretary Sal Panelo or si Solicitor General ang magbigay ng legal opinion diyan. Pero again, if you ask me, they’re all rehashed issues against the President and part of the grand scheme to oust him eventually; at itong massive protest na panawagan ng ilang grupo this coming 24 or 25 dito sa bansa. So ito po ay kasama doon sa protracted plan of the enemies of this administration.

MERCADO:                                       Pero katulad nung sinabi mo, hindi naman nababahala ang Presidente dito?

SEC. ANDANAR:                            Hindi naman. Alam mo, tuluy-tuloy ang trabaho natin sa gobyerno, Ka Orly. At kung mayroon mang taong nakakaalam noon, ikaw iyon. You’ve been here. So we just have to—

MERCADO:                                       Roll with the punches.

SEC. ANDANAR:                            Yeah, roll with the punches and work. I guess being here for seven months or almost eight months, trabaho na lang.

MERCADO:                                       Para bang—

SEC. ANDANAR:                            [Laughs]

MERCADO:                                       Anyway, pakisagot mo nga iyong kritisismo naman ng Senate media. Pinaparatangan mo raw sila na inalok ng $1,000 para mag-attend ng press con. Ano  ba ang reaksiyon mo dito?

SEC. ANDANAR:                            Alam mo iyong … the point of that—actually, I already that yesterday. Naglabas ako ng statement at kasama noon ay iyong kabuuang transcript to the interview of Pinky Webb doon sa programa niya. If you read the entire transcript you will see that wala naman akong pinaparatangan na tumanggap na media. It was under—the point really, it’s part of the grand plan for the massive protest this Saturday itong mga nangyayari. And then part of the grand plan was that – nakuha kong information – allegedly mayroong $1,000 na umiikot. Pero sinabi ko rin naman doon sa interview na wala akong natanggap na report na mayroong tumanggap o may nakatanggap o mayroong tumanggap ng ganoong klaseng pera.

So siguro the transcript will bear me out na wala akong pinaparatangan na journalist. So I hold our colleagues sa Senado, our colleagues in the business with high esteem. I respect them and I know that hindi sila ganoon. Kaya nga doon sa intelligence report ay walang sinabi na may tumanggap eh, because it only shows that they are professionals. So siguro para sa mga nagdududa pa rin sa sinabi ko, I will advise to go through the transcript para makita ninyo po iyong kung ano talaga ang sinabi ko.

MERCADO:                                       Okay. So sa kasalukuyan, itong kung ihi-hearing naman ng Senado itong isyu ni … going back to Lascañas, ano ba ang magiging posisyon ng Malacañang dito? Pababayaan na lang—

SEC. ANDANAR:                            Alam mo, Ka Orly, we respect the procedure and the process there in the Senate, they are an independent body. They can do whatever they wish which is good for the country and good for the Senate. Kung ano po ang desisyon ni Senator Dick Gordon at desisyon ng iba pang mga senador ay sila na ho ang ano diyan. Pero kami sa Palasyo naman, we will just continue on working for the change that we want. At kung anuman iyong kay SPO3, kung ano ang kaniyang plano, it’s really up to him. He’s a free man. He has freedom of expression. We won’t stop him to do anything.

MERCADO:                                       Naaalala ko lagi iyong … naririnig mo sa akin madalas iyong sinasabi kong quote na attributed to Oliver Wendell Holmes, “You cannot get to your destination if you stop at every barking dog.”
