President Rodrigo Duterte leads the mass oath-taking of newly-appointed officials and various national leagues. The ceremony was held at the Rizal Hall of Malacañan Palace on June 1, 2017.Joining the 200 new presidential appointees were officers and members of the League of Vice Governors of the Philippines, Provincial Board Members’ League of the Philippines, Vice Mayors League of the Philippines, Lady Local Legislators’ League of the Philippines, and National Movement of Young Legislators.
In his keynote speech, the President urged public officials to be humble and live a simple life, and should not be wallowing in luxury. The President also discussed how illegal drugs has infected thousands of barangays across the country as he divulged how terrorist groups have used drugs to fund their illegal activities. He reiterated that his campaign against illegal drugs is relentless. The President is likewise bent on improving the capacity of law enforcers to eradicate terror groups so that lasting peace would be achieved in the country.
