IMPASUG-ONG, BUKIDNON – Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar on Friday enjoined the public to foster the spirit of bayanihan as the country continues to battle against the impacts of COVID-19.
During the “Explain, Explain, Explain: Pagdu-aw sa Bukidnon” conference, Secretary Andanar highlighted the BIDA Solusyon campaign of the government, which reminds public to stay safe from the virus.
“Bakit mahalaga ang maging “Bida Solusyon”? Dahil ang tagumpay natin sa paglaban sa COVID-19 ay nakasalalay sa bawat isa. Kapag sumusunod tayo sa panuntunan, walang problema at makatutulong ka pa para maiwasan ang pagkalat ng sakit [Why is BIDA Solusyon important? Because the success in our fight against COVID-19 relies on each one of us. When we follow the guidelines set, there will be no problem and you can also help prevent the spread of COVID-19],” he said.
The campaign encourages people to #BIDASolusyon (Be The Solution) by following four BIDA behaviors: B stands for Bawal walang mask; I for I-sanitize ang mga kamay, iwas hawak sa mga bagay; D for Dumistansya ng isang metro; and A for Alamin ang totoong impormasyon.
“Likas na sa mga Pilipino ang spirit of bayanihan, kaya sana ipakita natin ang bayanihan sa pagtugon sa COVID-19. Kailangan natin ang malakas, magkakatugma, at sama-samang pagtugon upang labanan ang virus na ito [The spirit of bayanihan is so inherent among Filipinos, so I hope we can show bayanihan in our COVID-19 response. We need a strong, coordinated, and collective response to fight this virus],” he said.
Hinihikayat namin ang lahat na panatilihin ang mainam na pag-uugali at mga kasanayan na naka-angkla sa BIDA Solusyon upang maiwasan ang pagkalat ng COVID-19 [We encourage everyone to maintain the best behavior and practices, which are anchored on BIDA Solusyon to prevent the spread of COVID-19],” he added.
Secretary Andanar was joined by Impasug-ong Mayor Anthony Uy, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) spokesperson Irene Dumlao, Department of Health (DOH) Dir. Beverly Ho, and Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Director General Ramon Cualoping III.
According to PIA Director General Cualoping, the conference aims to explain various government interventions currently being implemented, especially covid 19those pertaining to the national COVID-19 responses and programs.
“We will be explaining the different programs of the government to help everyone improve their lives,” he said.
The DSWD also presented the Listahanan, the information management system that aims to establish a database of poor Filipino families.
“This is what President Rodrigo Roa Duterte wants, to extend the services of the government to the people. We will continue as your public servants, as your official while providing these services because this is your money,” DSWD Asec. Rhea Peñaflor said.
“Rest assured that the Department of Social Welfare and Development will be here to help you. We will continue to provide technical assistance to the local government units. We will continue to provide resource augmentation when needed,” she added.
Meanwhile, DOH Director Ho reiterated the call to follow the BIDA behaviors and always verify information on COVID-19.
“Pitong buwan na simula noong dumating ang COVID. Dapat mas confident na tayo, mas may tapang na tayo na alam natin paano protektahan ang sarili natin [It has been seven months since the COVID-19 started. We need to be more confident, we need to have more courage because we already know how to protect ourselves],” Director Ho said.
She also invited families with children 2 to 5 years old to join in the vaccination campaign for measles, rubella, and polio.
