DAPITAN CITY – Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar on Wednesday encouraged the public to continue supporting their respective local government units by following orders imposed to prevent another uptick in new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“Let us continue to support our LGU, and President Rodrigo Duterte. We are close to ending the COVID-19 pandemic. The vaccines are already made and these will arrive here starting this week,” he said during a radio interview on 99.3 Meuws Radio Bibo here.
“If we follow our LGUs, the possibility that we will be saved from this crisis is not far and we can finally continue our plans to further develop Dapitan and the rest of the country,” he added as he lauded the city government for successfully curbing the spread of the virus.
Secretary Andanar is in Dapitan City for the Dapitan leg of the Pagdu-aw: Explain, Explain, Explain on the roadmap of the National Vaccination Program of the government.
He reiterated that the Duterte administration is focused on saving lives, reviving hopes, and shaping the future of the Filipino people as the national government moves to purchase safe and effective vaccines.
“The primary aim of this activity is to really provide an avenue for the vaccination program to be discussed and to address numerous questions about it,” he said.
“The role of the PCOO is to communicate, considering that the confidence of the people in the vaccine is low because of the Dengvaxia controversy before. Nevertheless, we will continue to explain, explain, explain to them that these vaccines that will be arriving in our country are safe,” he added.
The PCOO chief also dismissed discussion on running for a political seat in the coming 2022 elections.
“We are only focused on serving the public first, and delivering the commitment of the President,” he said. ###
