ARTA backs PBBM call to promote ease of doing business in PH

The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) supported the call of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on government agencies and local government units (LGUs) to promote “the ease of doing business” in the Philippines.

During the Post-State of the Nation Address (SONA) Discussions on Tuesday, ARTA Undersecretary Geneses Abot said promoting ease of doing business would help attract investments for the country.

Abot said ARTA has been at the forefront of streamlining and digitalizing the process of doing business in the Philippines.

Some of the national government agencies collaborating with ARTA include the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), among others.

ARTA has ensured the compliance of LGUs to the requirements of the electronic Business One-Stop Shop (eBOSS).

Out of the 1,634 cities and municipalities in the Philippines, 1,178 of them have automated business processes.

“This means that their business registration is automated. However, this is not yet fully compliant, meaning that we have to validate it, our agency has to validate it so that they will be fully compliant with the law,” Abot said.

Abot added that out of the 1,178 cities and municipalities, 741 of them have adopted the eLGU of the DICT. Out of the 74, 46 are fully compliant with the eBOSS, he said.

Being compliant with the eBOSS reduces the processing time for businesses to register their entities or businesses, the official said.

Abot said the process also increases income. “So, aside from reducing the business processing time of their registrations and their renewals, there’s also an increase in income.” PND
