DMW assures safe, fair labor recruitment, adequate recognition of credentials of health workers in Singapore

Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac on Wednesday assured health workers in Singapore with a safe and fair labor recruitment process as he instructed them to deal directly with DMW-licensed recruiters.

In an episode of Malacañang Insider, Cacdac has given assurance of health workers’ safety in Singapore with its counterpart support.

“Ang sa akin ay mas mayroong kasiguruhan na safe and fair ang labor recruitment process. So kaya’t ‘pag sinabi namin na ‘Please deal only with licensed recruiters, those recruiters licensed by the DMW. Then we mean to say that these are licensed recruiters with the responsibility and accountability to protect the workers,” Cacdac said on Wednesday.

“So they are safe in that sense. So we will be more reassured because we know that we also have counterpart Singaporean support from the other side,” he added.

When it comes to qualifying credentials earned by health workers from their trainings in Philippines, Cacdac emphasized that DMW’s Singaporean counterparts have recognized the adequate credentials and training credits of Filipino workers.

“The other thing is, there will be adequate as you mentioned. There will be adequate recognition of whatever credentials or possible training credits that they obtained here. We will then take up this up definitely with the Singaporean counterparts,” he said. | PND
