The government dismissed accusations that the actions taken against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy are politically motivated.
“Alam mo, madaling sabihing politically motivated pero hindi naman totoo ‘yun,” Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said in a media interview on Monday.
As the Philippine National Police (PNP) prepares to serve the warrant of arrest against Quiboloy, Bersamin emphasized the importance of applying the law against a fugitive.
“The law must take its course. Mayroon namang process diyan,” he added.
Around 2,000 policemen swooped down the compound of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) in Buhangin District, Davao City, over the weekend to serve an arrest warrant on Quiboloy.
Quiboloy is facing charges under the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
He was also charged with qualified human trafficking under Section 4(a) of Republic Act No. 9208, as amended, a non-bailable offense. PND
