Gov’t encourages public to record, upload road abuse videos

To promote accountability, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. encouraged the public to use social media platforms to report any road abuse they witnessed.

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon said President Marcos has ordered the agency to take all necessary steps to make roads safe again for the public.

Dizon cited the recent video uploaded on social media that showed six GV Florida Transport Inc. buses speeding along a national road in Cagayan, where the drivers appeared to be racing against each other.

After the video sparked online discussion about road safety, GV Florida Transport Inc. threatened to file a cyberlibel case against the uploader for allegedly using fast-forward in the video to portray the company in a bad light.

The video showed buses occupying both lanes of the two-way road.

Dizon called out the bus company for harassment and said the DOTr will provide the uploader legal assistance in case a case is filed.
