The government is eyeing to administer eight to 10 million COVID-19 vaccine doses this July as more vaccine shipments come in and after breaching this month the 10-million mark of total number of jabs administered, the country’s vaccine czar said on Monday.

“Ang ating National Vaccination Operation Center kasama po ang ating mga LGU sa pamumuno po ni Secretary Vince Dizon will endeavor to achieve 8-10 million doses to be administered for the month of July, the global supply permitting,” Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said in his report to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Monday.

“Iyon po ang target po natin ngayon na makapagbakuna tayo ng more or less dalawang milyon kada week po kasi nakuha po natin 1.6 million kada buwan. And then based on the guidance of the President, we are reallocating more vaccines to surge area.”

With the help of the local government units (LGUs), the country was able to breached the 10-million mark last Saturday, and accomplished its target of five million jabs this month, he said.

For the A1 category, 2.8 million individuals got the first and second doses; A2, almost 3 million; A3, 3.2 million; A4, 842,000; and A5, 184,125, Galvez reported.

He also mentioned the increasing number of vaccines being administered. In March 2021, 700,000 doses were administered; in April, one million doses; in May, over three million doses; and before the end of June, five million vaccine doses.

“Kung makikita po natin umaangat na rin po ‘yong tinatawag natin na ‘yong weekly administration natin from 717,293 noong June 1 to 6, nagkaroon tayo ng 982,898 noong June 7 to June 13,” he said.

The vaccine czar also reported that the country will receive an additional 99,600 doses of Moderna vaccine before the end of this month. Over 13.3 million doses of various vaccines are expected to be delivered to the Philippines in July.

A total of 10,065,414 vaccine doses have been administered nationwide, with 2,527,286 individuals getting the full dose. PND
