Gov’t ready to assist distressed Filipinos in LA – Palace

Malacañang on Tuesday assured the public that the Philippine government is ready to assist distressed Filipinos in Los Angeles amid protests related to the US government’s immigration raids.

In a Palace press briefing, Presidential Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the provision of immediate assistance is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to ensure the safety and welfare of overseas Filipinos.

In its website, the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles offers assistance to Filipino nationals who are victims of a crime, or are detained, arrested, or accused of a crime, as well as cases of missing or dead.

Due to ongoing riots in downtown Los Angeles, Filipinos were advised to remain cautious and vigilant.
