Maximize socmed to promote Filipino MSMEs tourism industry – PBBM

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. urged Filipinos to maximize the positive impact of social media to promote all aspects of the country’s tourism industry.

According to the President, the move will also help the country’s micro-, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

In his speech during the distribution of assistance to El Niño-affected farmers and fisherfolk in Iligan City, President Marcos said a simple post of one’s product, or the country’s tourist attraction reaches a wider audience on social media.

The chief executive distributed a total of PhP168.82 million in financial assistance and extended various government assistance to fisherfolk and farmers in Northern Mindanao on Thursday as part of the government’s efforts to alleviate the effects of the El Niño phenomenon.

Of the figure, PhP50 million each was distributed to the local governments of Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental; PhP24.36 million to Misamis Occidental; PhP13.92 million to Lanao del Norte; PhP10.54 to Iligan City and PhP10 million each to Cagayan de Oro City and Camiguin.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) also provided PhP10,000 in financial assistance to each of the 9,588 beneficiaries in Iligan City and 10,000 target beneficiaries in Cagayan de Oro City through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations Program.

Regional offices of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Department of Health (DOH) also distributed assistance to the residents during the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair.

Speaker Martin Romualdez of the House of Representatives also provided five kilos of rice to each affected resident of Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro City. PND
