
The administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has allotted nearly PhP2 billion for the development and construction of Cordillera Region’s major infrastructures.
“Mayroon na tayong ilang priority [projects] na isinasagawa ngayon dito sa inyong rehiyon,” President Marcos said on Friday during the distribution of financial assistance to farmers and fisherfolk in Apayao province.
One of the projects identified is the ongoing construction of the Marimay Earthfill Dam worth PhP238.68 million. The project is 36 percent accomplished and expected to be completed by June 2025.
The President also mentioned the Piddig-Carasi-Calanasan Road worth PhP220 million, which is seen to be finished by January next year.
The road project is designed to enhance connectivity from Calanasan, Apayao to Piddig and Carasi, Ilocos Norte.
President Marcos said construction works are also ongoing for the Apayao Sports Convention Center worth PhP1.3 billion in Luna, Apayao.
It is composed of the main Sports Complex Building, powerhouse, parking lot, fire pump and fire storage tank facility systems, lighting system and other building features.
The project is expected to be completed by 2028.
The Department Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is doing an assessment for the release of additional funds for the project, the President added. PND
