Palace declares Marcos Sr.’s 106th birth anniversary as special non-working day in Ilocos Norte

The Malacañang has issued Proclamation No. 327, declaring September 11 as a special non-working day in Ilocos Norte to mark the 106th birth anniversary of the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos.

In issuing the proclamation last Wednesday by the authority of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said the people of Ilocos Norte deserve to have the opportunity to celebrate the birth anniversary of the former leader.

“It is fitting and proper that the people of the Province of Ilocos Norte be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” the proclamation read.

Ferdinand E. Marcos, the President’s father, was born on September 11, 1917, in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte.

He became the 10th president of the Philippines and, during his term, he focused on improving the country’s agriculture, education, infrastructure, energy production and foreign policy.

Displaying extraordinary leadership and brilliance, the late president serves as an inspiration to his fellow Ilocanos.

He died on September 28, 1989. PND
