Palace to release only verified info on failed flood control projects

Malacañang assured the public on Friday that only verified information regarding failed flood control projects—cited by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in his fourth State of the Nation Address—will be released.

“Hindi pa natin masasabi in detail kung sino at kung anong proyekto ito. Mas maganda po kasi kung mag-uulat kami ng verified,” Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said in a briefing.

“Bubuuin muna po ang karampatang pag-iimbestiga dito para po ang maiuulat namin sa bayan ay verified facts,” Castro added.

The official made the remarks when asked by the media if Malacañang has identified government officials who allegedly made money from flood control projects.

In his fourth State of the Nation Address on Monday, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. called out failed and non-existent flood control projects in light of recent massive flooding due to the storm-enhanced southwest monsoon.

President Marcos lashed out at the people involved in such projects, saying it was not a secret that kickbacks were made from flood control.

The Chief Executive ordered the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Regional Project Monitoring Committee to investigate and submit to him a list of flood control projects.

President Marcos said he will have the list published, so the people who witnessed anomalies could help in the investigation. | PND
