President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. on Thursday vowed government presence in Mindanao not only during crises but all times.
The various key projects for Mindanao — on-going and in the pipeline — ensure the important presence of the government in the region, according to the President.
In his speech during the continuation of his massive aid financial distribution for El Niño-hit farmers and fishermen in Cagayan de Oro, President Marcos said the government will continue its programs on infrastructure for Mindanao.
The infrastructure programs, according to the President, include airports, roads and other projects. More projects are in the pipeline for the region to push its development. So the government will always be there for the region, not only during crises, he added.
“Makakaasa ang lahat na hindi lamang sa panahon ng hirap ay nariyan ang inyong gobyerno. Dahil tuloy-tuloy ang mga programang imprastraktura sa inyong lungsod at rehiyon, gaya ng pagpagawa ng mga paliparan, kalsada, at iba pang mga proyekto,” President Marcos said.
During the event, the President recognized the predicaments of farmers and fisherfolk amid the effects of El Niño. Thus, the President vowed to extend all the necessary support and assistance for them.
“Sa abot ng aming makakaya, gagawin ng pamahalaan ang lahat upang matiyak na ang kinakailangang suporta at tulong ay agad na maipaparating sa bawat apektadong pamilya, magsasaka, at mangingisda,” he added.
The President also called on the local government of Cagayan De Oro City for cooperation and unity. He said through cooperation, challenges faced by its residents will be surpassed towards continuous growth and development in Northern Mindanao.
“Sa ating pagkakaisa at sama-samang pagkikilos, tiwala ako na magtatagumpay tayo sa mga hamong ating hinaharap. Ating ipagpatuloy ang pag-angat at pag-unlad ng Northern Mindanao,” the President said.
“Sa inyong suporta, sa inyong tulong, at sa ating pagkakaisa, gayon din sa pamamagitan ng ating agarang pagtugon sa pangangailangan ng bawat mamamayan, magiging tagumpay ang ating laban hindi lamang sa tagtuyot at problema sa tubig, kundi pati na rin ang pag-unlad ng ating bansa,” he added. PND
