PBBM backs PH delegates in IPSC World Shoot bid



President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Wednesday expressed full support to the Philippine delegation in its campaign for the top awards in the international shooting competition in Pattaya, Thailand.
In a courtesy call, Marcos said he would facilitate the resolution of several issues raised by Filipino shooters in going to the 2022 International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) Handgun World Shoot XIX, which included load restriction concerns.

“I wish to express my full and continuing support to the association for such good advocacies you promote in our local and international sports scene,” he said.

The President is a gun enthusiast himself and is behind the BBM (Bongbong Marcos) Cup, which has served as a venue for promoting gun handling and ownership.

The Philippine Practical Shooting Association (PPSA) requested an audience with the chief executive to present its 16 members who will be joining the competition on November 16 to December 3.

The Philippine team includes Aeron John Lanuza, Alfredo Catalan Jr., Arnel Ariate, Dominic John Santos, Edcel John Gino, Erin Mattea Micor, Evelyn Woods, Francis Paulo Paulino, Genesis Pible, Jerome Morales, Lenard Lopez, Marly Martir, Michael Tuazon, Raphael Castillo, Rolly Nathaniel Tecson, and Stefanie Kathrene Lee.

The IPSC is the world’s largest shooting sport association and the biggest and oldest within practical shooting.

The PPSA, meanwhile, serves as the Philippine association for practical shooting under the IPSC.

Present during the courtesyΒ  call were Ryan Remigio, PPSA Chairman, Edwin Lim,Β  PPSAΒ  President and IPSC Regional Director and other PPSA officers.

The handgun world shoot competition has been earlier postponed due to restrictions posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. (PND)
