President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday said the government is investing in success as he visited a primary school in Zamboanga del Norte, the latest recipient of a satellite-linked internet system and interactive hub platform.
Camul Elementary School in Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte received two units of Starlink satellite internet service that significantly enhanced digital access and connectivity for both educators and students.
The school was also a recipient of the Huawei Idea Interactive Hub from the Office of the President to aid students in their lessons.
Before the turnover of the satellite-linked internet system, the Camul Elementary School had no internet connection. The school used to rely on the services of a telecom provider which were discontinued due to billing issues.
During his visit, President Marcos participated in an internet speed test which linked Camul Elementary School with four other schools in the province.
The President expressed satisfaction with the handover of satellite-linked internet to the Camul Elementary School, which falls under the Department of Education’s Last Mile Schools Program.
The Last Mile Schools Program aims to address the gaps in resources and facilities of schools in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.
The President told teachers and school officials that the government is carrying out the initiative to link all schools to the internet to ensure a brighter future for all students.
Camul Elementary School has a total population of 255 learners and nine functional classrooms equipped with Smart televisions extended through DepEd’s One Television Unit per Classroom project.
DepEd also provided laptops to the school’s teaching personnel under the One Teacher One Laptop project. | PND
