President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said he was happy going to Camarines Sur province on Thursday and leading various events such as launching the Kadiwa ng Pangulo center, groundbreaking rites for government housing projects, and visiting a coconut processing facility.
“I’m happy to be here to be able to see that marami tayong ginagawa (we are doing many things), that we are breaking ground on some – for the housing projects, that the Kadiwa is spreading. We are now going to go to a coconut processing center. So it’s good to be able to come out and actually see for yourself,” the President told reporters in an interview.
“So I’m always very happy to come out here and I suppose that I can attribute that support that people are showing, the enthusiasm is because I hope that they can see na kung ano man ang pinangako namin noong kampanya talagang sinubukan namin itupad lahat ng aming sinasabi (that we are really trying to fulfill all our promises made during the campaign),” the President added.
Marcos started his activities by launching the first Kadiwa ng Pangulo center in the Bicol Region in Pili town. The administration has so far launched more than 500 Kadiwa ng Pangulo outlets nationwide.
After that, the chief executive led two groundbreaking ceremonies for the construction of housing units for the residents of Camarines Sur as part of the government’s Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, one in Panganiban Drive and the other one in Barangay Balatas both in Naga City.
The Naga City launch is the first housing project under the 4PH program that was entered into by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) with a provincial government.
The 4PH Project in Camarines Sur aims to build five residential towers with 11,880 housing units on a 6-hectare land on Panganiban Drive, while seven buildings with more than 10,000 housing units will be built in Barangay Balatas.
President Marcos was also named an “adoptive son” of the province through a resolution presented by Governor Luigi Villafuerte.
“For all that you have done for the province of Camarines Sur, and as a way of expressing our everlasting gratitude for all that you have done, please allow me to present to you the resolution by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Camarines Sur, declaring you, Mr. President, as the adopted son of Camarines Sur,” Villafuerte said.
Marcos also led the distribution of various government assistance at the Kafuerte Sports Complex in Pili.
Among those distributed by the President are farm machineries such as harvester, transplanter, and truck, family food packs, fertilizer discount voucher, financial assistance, as well as livelihood assistance, training, and Negokarts from the labor department.
The President also visited the Php230-million Sustainable Agriculture and Fishery Enterprises (SAFE) Innovation Hub, a coconut processing center located in Barangay San Jose in Pili.
The SAFE Innovation Hub for Coconut and Other By-Products Project will serve as a processing and marketing area for coconut products and by-products, and is seen to enhance coconut farmers’ economic condition and create job opportunities.
The hub, which could begin operation in April this year, has a processing capacity of 289,960 nuts or 254,064 kilograms of nuts per day.
Marcos wrapped up his activities by recognizing the role of soldiers as “peacemakers” in the fight against communist insurgency during his visit to the 9th Infantry Division at Camp Elias Angeles, Pili town. (PND)
