President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. plans to use funds from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to improve social services and infrastructure in the country.
Speaking at the launch of the ADB Philippines Country Partnership Strategy (CPS) 2024-2029 in Malacañang on Thursday, President Marcos emphasized the importance of turning ADB’s multi-billion funding commitment into concrete outcomes.
“The task before us is clear. We must turn this generous backing into meaningful outcomes—better social services, improved infrastructure, and a more resilient economy,” President Marcos said.
He also underscored the need for the nation to not just meet, but exceed expectations, setting a new benchmark for success under the vision of Bagong Pilipinas.
The ADB’s new strategy outlines three strategic priorities: improving human development, enhancing economic competitiveness and infrastructure, and promoting nature-based development and disaster resilience.
With a proposed lending program amounting to $12.4 billion over four years, the ADB aims to support sustained growth and lay the foundation for a prosperous future. | PND
