PBBM greets Muslims at the end of Ramadan, urges them to continue serving others

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. joined the Muslim communities on Monday in celebrating Eid’l Fitr, the Festival of Breaking the Fast, which marked the end of Ramadan.

In his message, President Marcos said that Eid’l Fitr is more than a celebration; it underscored the importance of serving others and improving the condition of those in need.

The President said the festival is a testament to the desire for “shared humanity, strengthening bonds of family and friendship, as well as unity among our peers.”

“Beyond the values that Ramadan emphasized, let us continue to be inspired to extend our hands in service, uplift those in need, and help find joy in those who seek it,” he said.

“Only through living with compassion and inclusivity can we appreciate and understand what Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sought to accomplish—a life where harmony and love prevail upon us all,” he added.

The President reminded Filipinos not to forget their responsibility to one another, expecting that the “acts of kindness, engaging conversations, and delightful activities that bring communities together define our actions moving forward.”

Tying the religious observance to the country’s national goals, the President urged Filipinos to embody the virtues of dedication and faith to achieve “a more equitable and peaceful Bagong Pilipinas.”

Eid al Fitr is a major religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide, which marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.
Family and social gatherings, traditional sweet dishes, feasting, and gift-giving mark the religious event.

The President has issued Proclamation No. 839, declaring April 1, 2025, a regular holiday. | PND
