Amid the aggressive actions of the Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) in the West Philippine Sea (WPS), President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday said it’s about time for the government to go beyond the filing of diplomatic protests and démarches against China.
“We have over a hundred protest already. We have already made similar number of démarches. So, we have to do more than just that,” President Marcos said during the sidelines of the 2024 National Employment Summit (NES) in Manila.
President Marcos said the government has already objected to some actions of the People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) maritime forces.
President Marcos said the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will formalize a discussion with Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian to shed light on what transpired during the last rotation and reprovision (RORE) mission of the Philippine Navy (PN) in Ayungin Shoal.
President Marcos said the Philippines is constantly in touch with the Chinese Ambassador.
