PBBM lauds residents, local gov’t of Davao del Sur for the province’s progress

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Saturday lauded the residents and the local government of Davao del Sur for their impressive efforts to work together for the province’s progress as he acknowledged their achievements over the past years.

In his speech during the 56th founding anniversary of Davao del Sur, President Marcos said that the residents and the local government officials should not only celebrate the province’s founding anniversary but also their efforts in achieving progress.

“So, I am honored by all of you and those who came before you for having the heart to work together to turn the province into the peaceful and progressive place that it is today. But here in Davao del Sur, the 56 years of peace and progress in the many communities that make up the province (is a great achievement). Let us give everyone a big round of applause for these 56 years,” President Marcos said.

The President also acknowledged Davao del Sur for becoming the first in the Davao Region to be declared insurgency-free and for its diligent and compassionate implementation of the ‘Tupad Pangako Program’ through which former rebels are successfully reintegrated into society and now take part in the nation-building efforts.

President Marcos also recognized the provincial government’s dedication to improving its services and facilities, especially its healthcare system, and its ongoing digitalization and streamlining of government processes to achieve sound fiscal management and bureaucratic efficiency.

“To all the local leaders: Thank you for your service to the province and to your people. It’s very encouraging to see you all working hand in hand, and to know that the Provincial Government’s projects are all aligned with my Administration’s Eight-Point Socioeconomic Agenda,” President Marcos said.

“I urge all of you to remain determined in promoting peace, in promoting development in your province. With the local government focusing on all aspects of your daily life that we have identified in the national agenda, we can look forward to a boost in local businesses, improved daily transactions, and an overall better quality of life,” he added.

With all the achievements of the province, the chief executive assured the residents and the provincial officials of the national government’s full support in ensuring the success of their initiatives and the success of the people of Davao del Sur.

Before concluding his speech, President Marcos personally thanked the people of Davao del Sur for their continuous support of his administration from the time that he ran for the presidency in the May 2022 elections until now.

The chief executive reiterated that unity has been his constant challenge to the Filipino people and the Philippines.

“So, I call on you: Let us make the province a beacon of progress for Mindanao and for the rest of the country. Let us unite in taking care of your rich plains and valleys, your wonderful beaches, abundant seas, and, most importantly, the beautiful and reliable people that make this province truly remarkable,” the President said.

Before concluding his speech, the chief executive urged the residents and the local officials to “come together to provide brighter, more stable, and more prosperous lives for ourselves, our families, and for those who come after us.” PND
