President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ordered the national and local governments to brace for the next flood as the country faces the La Niña phenomenon.
“Let’s prepare for the next flood. This is the first typhoon sa La Niña. Mahaba pa ‘to. So, we have to prepare for that. Let’s think about preparing for that,” President Marcos said.
The President made the remarks during the situation briefing in Mauban, Quezon, on Friday.
Reports from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) showed the municipality of Agdangan in Quezon was hard-hit by typhoons Aghon, Carina, and the southwest monsoon (habagat).
At least 986 families, or 4,324 individuals, were affected by Carina. A total of 968 families temporarily stayed with relatives or friends.
The typhoon also rendered the seaports in Real, Infanta, Polillo, Patnanungan, Jomalig, and Burdeos non-operational.
The President also sought to assess the significant changes in flooding patterns in the province.
“We’re trying to assess what are the significant changes because all our flood control projects are projects that are in response to the – ‘yung mga flooding noon,” President Marcos said.
After visiting Quezon province, President Marcos visited the residents affected by Carina in Rizal. PND
