PBBM orders immediate solution to Siquijor power crisis

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has ordered the Department of Energy (DOE) to address the recurring power interruptions in Siquijor province and to ramp up actions to address the power supply deficiencies.

“Pinatawag na po ni Pangulo sina outgoing Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla at Acting Energy Secretary Sharon Garin at nakikipagpulong na po sila upang ayusin ang sitwasyon sa Siquijor,” Presidential Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said in a Malacañang briefing on Tuesday.

The President also ordered a thorough investigation into the Siquijor Island Power Cooperative (SIPCO), the island’s power provider, according to Castro.

Castro said the DOE is committed to deliver steady and reliable power supply in the province in order to meet all the requirements of its residents. | PND
