PBBM orders release of funds needed to repair school buildings in Misamis Or

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Wednesday assured local government units (LGUs) in Misamis Oriental that he has ordered the release of more than P3 million for the repair of school buildings damaged by the floodings in the province.

“If the LGUs can take the load, we can send you the three million plus immediately. Kasi ito ‘yung nakalista dito, for the school buildings,” President Marcos said in a situation briefing in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental.

“I’m talking about the school buildings for the repair. Yeah do it. By administration na lang para mas mabilis. Mas mabilis and mas mura,” Marcos said.

According to the President, there are 63 classrooms that were flooded as a result of the downpour caused by the shear line.

The President has instructed the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to expedite the repair of damaged infrastructure once the floodings have subsided.

The damage to the province’s school buildings must be also looked into, Marcos said.

During the briefing, the local government of Gingoog reported that the number of families has risen to 18,452, while forty-five out of 59 barangays have been affected.

Villagers residing in the coastal areas incurred the most damage. #
