President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has ordered concerned government agencies to strengthen the country’s macroeconomic foundation to elevate the Philippines to upper-middle income status.
In a press briefing on Friday, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the government will continue reforms in infrastructure, education, innovation, and digitalization.
“Ang gagawin ng pamahalaan ay lalong palakasin ang macro-economic foundation at ipagpatuloy pa po ang mga reporma sa infrastructure, education, innovation at digitalization,” Castro said.
The President ordered government agencies to continue implementing the Ease of Doing Business Act and the CREATE MORE Act.
Republic Act No. 11032, also known as the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018, aims to streamline current systems and procedures for government services to enhance the country’s competitiveness.
Meanwhile, the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises to Maximize Opportunities for Reinvigorating the Economy (CREATE MORE) Act would make the Philippines a destination of choice for investments.
The CREATE MORE Act amends the 1997 National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC) and improves the nation’s fiscal incentives policies.
Castro said the government will likewise strengthen its Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects.
“So makakaasa po tayo na magiging positibo po tayo para po makamit natin, na makarating po tayo sa upper-middle income group sa panahon po ni Pangulong Marcos Jr.,” Castro said. | PND
