PBBM orders swift assistance to Carina-hit Filipinos



President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Wednesday instructed all concerned government agencies “to provide swift assistance to all those affected by Typhoon Carina and the enhanced southwest monsoon.”

President Marcos will be heading to the headquarters of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) in Quezon City later Wednesday to hold a situation briefing.

“I will be holding a situation briefing this morning to assess the current situation and ensure that all necessary support is provided promptly and effectively,” he said.

The government has already distributed assistance totaling to PhP43.15 million to Filipinos affected by the southwest monsoon in Visayas and Mindanao, the President said.

In a statement, the President said the assistance has aided over 770,000 individuals.

“Over the last week, we provided Php43.15 million in assistance to over 770,000 individuals affected by the Southwest Monsoon in Visayas and Mindanao,” President Marcos said on his official X account (formerly Twitter).

To date, there is still PhP2.88 billion worth of prepositioned aid and close to 4,500 personnel on standby for search, rescue, and retrieval operations, he added. PND
