Funds, food, and non-food items valued at PhP83.744 million have been prepared by the government to help the Cordillera region brace for the rainy season, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said on Friday.
“Ngayon naman ay parating ang tag-ulan, minabuti po namin na maghanda ng pondo, pagkain, [at] non-food items na nagkakahalaga ng higit walumpu’t tatlong milyong piso para dito sa region,” President Marcos said.
President Marcos made the remarks during the distribution of presidential assistance to farmers and fisherfolk affected by the El Niño phenomenon at the BGVJr Memorial Sports Center in Barangay Poblacion, Luna, Apayao.
Of the PhP83 million, the government has allocated PhP4,437,218 for a standby fund, PhP25,197,515.57 for 31,597 family food packs, and PhP54,109,723.92 for other food and non-food items.
The province of Apayao is expected to experience way below normal rainfall this month while other provinces are expected to have below normal rainfall. PND
