Saying actual progress is never instant, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday commended the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) for its enduring commitment to national progress since 1954.
In his speech during the oath-taking ceremony of the federation’s new officers in Binondo, President Marcos attributed the seven decades of partnership to the contributions of FFCCCII in driving commerce, education, and community service.
“True progress does not happen overnight. It is built patiently and purposefully by those who believe in something greater than themselves,” President Marcos said.
The President highlighted how the federation’s decades of civic engagement have helped bridge divides across sectors and ethnic lines.
“In all these endeavors, the FFCCCII has been a reliable foundation for bridging differences between communities, laying the groundwork for growth, and harnessing the strength of collective action,” the President said.
President Marcos acknowledged the importance of public-private collaboration.
The President said FFCCCII has demonstrated how sustained cooperation between government and business leads to inclusive, long-term development.
“You have connected Filipino and Chinese communities, forged strong ties between enterprises and government, and ensured that progress reaches those who need it the most,” the President said.
President Marcos cited past efforts in which the organization played a critical role during national emergencies and recovery periods.
The President stated that the FFCCCII’s legacy continues to shape policy, infrastructure, education, and disaster relief.
As the Federation transitions to new leadership, President Marcos underscored the importance of carrying forward this legacy.
“Hindi po madaling panatilihin ang tiwala at pagkakaisa sa harap ng patuloy na pagbabago. Yet, time and again, your institution has demonstrated that real, inclusive development is possible when anchored on a sustained cooperation and shared values,” President Marcos said.
“Let us continue walking side by side, as we have for generations—moving forward towards a Bagong Pilipinas that is united, progressive, and proudly ours,” the President said. | PND
