
During a courtesy call in Malacañang on Monday, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. conveyed his sincere appreciation to High Representative and Vice President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas for the European Union’s continued and steadfast support for the Philippines.
The President welcomed the establishment of the Philippines-EU Security and Defense Dialogue, underscoring the importance of addressing geopolitical challenges with those who share similar values and adherence to the rules-based international order.
Kallas is currently in Manila for a two-day official visit.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) stated that Kallas’ trip to Manila is her first visit to the Philippines since her appointment on December 1, 2024.
The DFA said her visit represents a significant step forward in strengthening diplomatic ties between the Philippines and the European Union, emphasizing their mutual commitment to open political dialogue and deepen collaboration for peace, stability, and sustainable development. | PND
