PH built on Filipino workers’ sweat, toil – PBBM

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. assured Filipino workers of the administration’s continued support for their growth and prosperity under a “Bagong Pilipinas” where they are cherished, respected and empowered.

The President made the assurance as he joined the entire nation on Labor Day to pay tribute to the country’s noble and diligent workers.

In his Labor Day message on Wednesday, President Marcos recognized the invaluable efforts of the Filipino laborers not only in providing the needs of their families and uplifting their lives, but also in contributing unwaveringly to the Philippine economy.

President Marcos said the Philippines is built upon the sweat and toil of Filipinos workers as he acknowledged the people who championed labor rights.

“On this special day, we recognize the invaluable contributions of our hardworking men and women whose grit and resilience have paved the way for our national development. We also pay homage to all the people who raised their voices in the pursuit of social justice, championing the rights of workers and ensuring that their efforts are duly valued and compensated,” President Marcos said.

“The government continues to support the working class and uphold the principles of fairness, dignity and equity across all workspaces. Indeed, under the banner of a Bagong Pilipinas, we will usher in an era of greater prosperity where opportunities abound, creating a society where every worker is cherished, respected and empowered to thrive,” he added.

President Marcos declared May 1, Labor Day as a regular holiday pursuant to Proclamation No. 368 dated October 11, 2023.

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma, on the other hand, reminded employers to comply with the payment of wages for Labor Day through Labor Advisory No. 06, dated April 25, posted on its official website. PND
