The Philippines recorded its highest number of vaccines administered in a day at 375,059 jabs on July 13, 2021 – the highest daily jabs so far for the country since the national vaccination program stared in March 2021.
According to data from the National COVID-19 Vaccination Dashboard, a total of 13,817,358 total doses have been administered nationwide, as of July 13, 2021.
“Umabot tayo sa bilang na ito bagama’t nagkakaroon ng kakulangan sa suplay sa mga nakalipas na araw,” said Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque Jr. in a press briefing on July 14, 2021.
The Palace Spokesperson mentioned that this number of total vaccines administered is expected to reach 15 million this week. This is in view of the expected arrival of several vaccine doses.
“Dumating kaninang umaga ang isang milyong doses ng Sinovac, at inaasahan naman na bukas, July 15, ay darating ang 250,800 doses ng Moderna vaccine,” said Secretary Roque.
Of the expected delivery of Moderna vaccines, 194,400 doses shall be for the Philippine government, while 56,400 doses shall be for the private sector.
Meanwhile, Sec. Roque was present earlier in the day at the vaccination program conducted by the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, held at the Hope Christian High School in Tondo, Manila. Roque said that the Federation received its vaccines via a tripartite agreement.
On another matter, Roque who is also spokesperson of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), announced that the IATF has extended the travel restrictions on India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, United Arab Emirates, and Oman until July 31, 2021.
“Inatasan din ang IATF Technical Working Group na muling pag-aralan at magbigay [ng] mga rekomendasyon sa narararapat na testing at quarantine protocols para sa mga biyahero ng mga nasabing bansa, at iba pang mga lugar na matutukoy na high-risk,” said Roque.
In the same press briefing, Mayor Arsenia Lim of the town of Masinloc in Zambales addressed the report about fisherfolks from Masinloc who are allegedly being prohibited from fishing at the Scarborough Shoal. Mayor Lim said that the local government unit (LGU) is regularly monitoring the fishermen in the town and that they have not received reports or have known of any prohibitions to fishing in the area of the Scarborough Shoal.
Mayor Lim underscored that the issue is an old one that was raised during the last election and is being resurfaced at this time when election time is near again. Lim emphasized that national government support is being provided by the LGU to the fishermen in Masinloc and assured that fishermen from Masinloc are able to fish even beyond the Scarborough Shoal.
Meanwhile, Commodore Armand Balilo, Acting Commander of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) assured that the PCG regularly patrols the area and has so far not received any report that fishing by Filipino fishermen in the Scarborough Shoal is not allowed. ### OPS-PCOO
