The Philippines has set three new milestones in its vaccination program as of September 1, 2021 with 34,112,320 total vaccines administered nationwide, 20,002,404 individuals given a first dose, and 14,109,916 individuals with a complete dose.
Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque made this announcement in his press briefing on September 2, 2021, where he noted that of the total vaccines administered, 25.93 percent have already received a first dose, while 18.29 percent have completed their full dose.
For the National Capital Region (NCR) as of September 1, the number of those who have received a first dose is 7,158,800, while 4,157,092 or 42.52 percent have completed their vaccine doses.
“Ang total doses administered na po natin sa Metro Manila ay 11,315,892; ang ating average po ay 125,912 daily jabs, dito lang po yan sa Metro Manila,” said Secretary Roque.
On the latest in vaccine deliveries, the Palace official and spokesperson of the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) said that as of September 1, the Philippines has received a total of 52,603,760 vaccine doses, according to the National Task Force Against COVID-19.
Of the said number of total vaccines delivered, 32,050,400 were purchased by the national government, 3,617,100 were procured by the private sector and local government units, 13,297,120 where from the COVAX Facility, and 3,639,140 were donated by other countries.
Meanwhile, Roque once again reminded the unvaccinated to get jabbed to prevent severe disease. “Alam n’yo ba na sa 280 COVID-19 patients na na-admit sa PGH, as of August 26, wala ni-isa sa kanila ang na-intubate o nilagyan ng tubo. Wala ring fully vaccinated ang nasa life support system sa kanilang ICU,” said Roque.
In the same press briefing, Department of Health (DOH) Epidemiology Bureau Director Dr. Alethea De Guzman underscored the importance of the strict implementation of the minimum public health standards especially in areas or activities in high-risk situations like in closed and crowded areas, and in activities or situations with a high chance of having close contacts.
Dr. De Guzman also encouraged the public to ger vaccinated, even the pregnant and breastfeeding mothers as long as they consult with their doctors. On the increasing number of cases, Dr. De Guzman noted that the active case finding that local government units (LGU) are doing is a factor in discovering more cases, which is contributing to the rise in case numbers.
She assured also that the national government is continuously augmenting health systems capacity, including the continued decongesting of hospitals by transferring asymptomatic and mild cases to community facilities. Dr. De Guzman added that monitoring of cases and healthcare utilization is being done continuously to better adjust policy and response.
De Guzman also stressed on the importance of the continuous implementation of border control restrictions especially in international ports of entry to ensure that no new variants of concern or variants of interest will be introduced to the country. Lastly, she emphasized the importance of continuous up-to-date information to better inform the public.
Also in the same press briefing, Pasay City Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano reported that the city LGU has already completed the distribution of the financial assistance to 98 percent of individuals and families affected by the recent implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in the NCR. On Pasay City’s vaccination, Mayor Rubiano said that they are now at 80 percent of their 70 percent target eligible population. ### OPS
