As the government continues its campaign against graft and corruption, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte disclosed Wednesday more names of government officials who were removed from service for abusing their positions.
Among those dismissed were barangay employees, an official from a state-run corporation, and members of the Armed Forces.
“Lahat sila ito pare-pareho ‘yan, dismissed from service with accessory penalties of cancellation of eligibility, forfeiture of retirement benefits, and the perpetual disqualification for reemployment in the government service. Ibig sabihin he can no longer seek employment sa gobyerno,” President Duterte said during his weekly public address.
Among those sacked include Alejandro Rivera, regional vice president of Quedan and Rural Credit Guarantee Corp. (Quedancor) for dishonesty and grave misconduct.
Also included in President’s list were Gattaran, Cagayan, municipal treasurer Ana Turaray, and Los Baños, Laguna, Barangay Captain Joben Manarpaac and barangay secretary Laica Macapua. The two Los Baños officials were accused of grave abuse of authority, grave misconduct, and serious dishonesty.
Also dismissed for committing wrongdoings were Janet Escalada and Orly Pastrana, administrative aides from Romblon; Rowena Garcia, barangay treasurer; and Lara Jill Lorbis, a Luisiana, Laguna, barangay treasurer.
Several members of the Philippine Navy were also removed from service for fraud against the government.
They include Quartermaster 1st Class Petty Officer Elpidio Aromin, Petty Officer 2nd Class Jesus De Egurrola, Petty Officer 2nd Class Lecyl Nambatac, Apprentice Seaman Ed Mark Saura, and Seaman Second Class Sunny Boy Beberino.
The President, who ran on an anti-graft platform, has earlier ordered an investigation of the entire government bureaucracy to stop anomalies and get rid of officials and employees engaged in graft and corruption. PND
