President Duterte honors soldiers wounded in BIFF clash

DAVAO CITY—President Rodrigo Roa Duterte honored Sunday five Army soldiers who were wounded in military operations against Islamic insurgents in Mindanao, praising them for their heroism and bravery in securing the country.

President Duterte arrived at the Metro Davao Medical Research Center (MDMRC) early Sunday to personally check the condition of the injured soldiers. He then conferred the Order of Lapu-Lapu, Rank of Kampilan on the injured members of the security forces.

Among those who received the award were Pfc. Ruel Sumilhig, Pfc. Allan James Cabildo, Cpl. Alexander Flauta, and Pfc. Sonny Buladaco.

The Order of Lapu-Lapu, Rank of Kampilan is conferred by the President to recognize exemplary service by workers of the government and private individuals who are wounded, injured, or suffered great loss of property for their participation in the advocacy of the President.

The troops sustained injuries in separate clashes against the members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and the Dawlah Islamiyah Turaife Group (DITG) in rural parts of Mindanao.

The President, who vowed full support and protection, also personally extended cash assistance to the wounded military personnel. PND
