President Duterte inaugurates BGC-Ortigas Center Road Link Project

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Thursday led the inauguration of the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) to Ortigas Center Road Link Project in Taguig City, which is expected ease traffic congestion along the major thoroughfares of Metro Manila.

“This project marks another milestone in the government’s Build, Build, Build Program and is vital in fully achieving a safe, time-efficient, and dignified travel among motorists in Metro Manila and its surrounding areas,” President Duterte said during the inauguration rites.

“This major new link road will help ease traffic congestion along the major thoroughfares of Metro Manila. It will improve the movement of people and goods, especially between the Ortigas and BGC business centers as travel time is expected to be reduced from an hour to a mere 12 minutes.”

The President welcomed the infrastructure development at a time when the country is gradually recovering from the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and safely revitalizing economic activities.

President Duterte expects the project to provide substantial and long-lasting benefits to various businesses, motorists, and ordinary Filipino.

At the same time, he recognized the contribution of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and other government agencies that synergized their efforts towards the realization of other projects under the Build, Build, Build Program.

“With less than a year left in my term, we cannot afford to waste time and resources as we fulfill our promise of better and more responsive public works across the country,” he said.

“To my fellow Filipinos, let me assure you of my administration’s unrelenting commitment to pursue a more comfortable life for every Filipino through safe and reliable infrastructure that will improve mobility and productivity.”

The President assured the Filipino public that no one will be left behind as the country steadfastly and collectively work towards a stronger and more progressive nation.

The 1.48-kilometer BGC-Ortigas Road Link Project is a flagship infrastructure project implemented by the DPWH as part of the Duterte administration’s Build, Build, Build Program.

The project will benefit motorists between the business districts of BGC and Ortigas Center, and is expected to decongest traffic volume in Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and C-5 Road by 20 percent.

On 12 June 2021, the government opened the Phase 1 of the road link project to the public by connecting Barangay Sta. Monica in Pasig City and Kalayaan Avenue in Makati City. PND
